In this episode of Reshaping Education, Mehak and I discuss the history of OnDelta and what it takes to start and run an online career accelerator.
1) Does it take technical skills to start a career accelerator?
"No, definitely not."
In the beginning, you can use no-code tools like Airtable, Notion, Slack, Zapier to manage your student base.
2) How do go about recruiting students?
"Our initial students came from cold messaging on LinkedIn."
After running a few cohorts, leverage content marketing to show your authority in the field and recruit new students.
3) How to go about building an audience?
"If you have something to say and you have something to show and it provides value to the people that are watching it, it's, it's pretty easy to build an audience in that respect"
Be authenticate and leverage your origin story to send a message that resonates with your audience.
4) How do you effectively teach online?
"it's actually still very similar to, having a class in person. The only difference is that it's harder to build a rep with the students when they're not seeing you in person"
5) What tooling do you use to communicate with your students?
"Slack for messaging. Zoom for our video classes."For hosting live sessions for your virtual school, Zoom is a great option. For real-time communication, check out Slack.
6) What advice would you give to anyone looking to start a career accelerator
"Just find one student who's willing to pay for your program upfront and help them achieve the results that you want to get at scale."
